IN CHARACTER

Character Name: Raven Darkholme
Canon: Marvel 616
Canon Point: Immediately post House of X/Powers of X

In-Game Tattoo Placement: Right flank area.
Current Health/Status: Very good health.
Age: 100+, appears to be in her mid-30s.
Species: Human Mutant

Content Warnings: Poor parenting/possible child abuse, mental health issues

History: Right over here.

Personality:
Raven Darkholme is a mutant with the ability to take the voice and appearance of any person she sees or hears, but her own appearance makes her mutation difficult to mask without changing herself to something more palatable to the humans around her. Throughout her life she’s learned to control her gift and use it even during sleep, intoxication, and much later (after a couple children) even childbirth. She has grappled with her appearance and at earlier points in canon has pointed to it as a weakness, or something to be ashamed of. Whereas in more recent appearances she has grown to be proud of the way she looks and doesn’t stay hidden when she doesn’t have reason to be.

Due to her ability to change form, she can heal more rapidly. It makes discerning age from her appearance almost impossible. She’s lived over a lifetime of experiences and tends to get bored easily if she isn’t working a job or plotting something. Sometimes she is known to take the place of those who live in luxury, but even having everything seems to get stale eventually.

Her love life sees similar patterns where she either self-sabotages, or knowingly allows herself to be in situations that will not end well simply because they feel good in the moment. Once she tires of the relationship she moves on. Long term relationships are no longer something she engages in anymore, but she has a long list of past lovers and a few ex-husbands.

She can be self-serving and manipulative. While she is capable of doing and achieving great things on her own without the need for teamwork, at times the things she requires--be it resources or intel-- can only be gained with the, often reluctant or unknowing, help of others. Frequently this involves emotional manipulation. Notably, she’s seduced Bobby Drake to get close to him only to reveal she’d been playing him all along.

Raven is a woman that has very little shame. She has a difficult time respecting the boundaries of others, and will flirt with anyone for seemingly no reason at all.

Although she does like to be given attention in intimate settings, she would rather move around unnoticed in the shadows. It is difficult to get a good idea of whether or not she’s ever truly loved anyone other than herself because until fairly recently she hasn't had full control of her mind. She keeps serious relationships secret. Her short-lived relationship with Forge seemed genuine although when pressed about it she denies he meant anything to her. The relationship (and scandalous secret marriage) she had with Charles Xavier only came to light after he passed. Until this day the only person she'll openly admit to having loved was Destiny.

Her poor parenting skills are particularly noteworthy. She gave up her first son (with Sabretooth), Graydon. Her second son, Kurt, she also gave away sent down a river in a basket. She was a fair adoptive mother to Rogue for a time with her partner Destiny. She'd give away the son she had with Charles Xavier (as Moira MacTaggart) because she couldn’t bear to look at him without being reminded of the man who had been a symbol of good to so many. She felt that if she raised him he would turn out bad. She had another child soon after for Wolverine, Raze Darkholme, and raised him herself so poorly that he ended up killing her (in a future timeline) and taking her place.

Since every identity and personality she has to imitate stays with her, it makes her mindscape one that is chaotic and incapable of making sound-minded decisions. She’s described as having a schizophrenia-like condition. It renders psychics incapable of reading her mind, but also means she was hardly ever lucid until Psylocke healed her mind. It’s not known whether her bad streak was a result of her mental illness or not, but following that, she showed up to her adopted daughter’s wedding to support her where previously she had tried to sleep with Gambit as one of his students to prove to Rogue that he was not a good man.

She is still untrustworthy and self-serving, but now she is able to choose when she wants to be with a sounder mind.

Raven seems to be very power-hungry. Not in the blunt, testosterone-driven, I-will-take-over-the-world kind of way, but in a more subtle behind-the-scenes influential way. She’s coming from a canon point following her and Emma Frost teaming up to become the White King and Black King of the Hellfire Club (pre Age of X & HoX/PoX) respectively, and then getting a seat on the Quiet Council in the new mutant nation of Krakoa, so she's in a leadership mentality already when she wakes up in town. It is bound to be a disappointment that she cannot have that status back without returning home.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
- Agility: Fast, flexible, and has quick reflexes.
- Combat prowess: She is adept in using rifles, handguns, knives, and a couple types of hand to hand combat.

Powers:
- Shape shifting including vocal impersonation: She can imitate someone's appearance (if she sees them), and voice (if she hears them say at least 10 different words).** She doesn't need to wear clothes because she can shape shift those at will as well as shoes and additional pockets/pouches. It's only gross if you think about it too long.
- Accelerated healing: She can shift around her organs, push together different parts, help the healing process through shape shifting.
- Partial psychic Immunity: The personalities she's lived as long term still reside in her psyche, and it can make her brain difficult for any psychic to try to get a good read on. Similar to a TV playing 50+ channels simultaneously.

Weaknesses:
- Fear of deep/meaningful emotional connections
- Loneliness
- She can't shape shift anything that requires more body mass than she currently has, for example if she shape shifted into Logan she would look identical to him but would maintain her original body weight
- Insecurity about her appearance

Inventory:
- A handgun
- Her smartphone (with photos, texts, sexts, and voicemails)
- Nondescript designer handbag with a wallet full of fake identities and stolen/borrowed credit cards

Writing Samples:
- One
- Two (not sure if this is okay to use)
- Three (just in case the above isn't usable)
